POS Application

Overview

POS is a powerful point of sale system implemented for super markets to manage sales, inventory, purchasing and tasks pertaining to typical ecommerce. POS comes with excellent accounting and bookkeeping components.

Challenge

Our Uganda based client required a windows based Point of Sale system which can run individual supermarkets as well as chain of supermarkets. All the branches of the supermarket chain should have their data to be in synchronization with the head server at the master branch. Developing a powerful POS system also requires integrating system that integrates sales, inventory, purchasing, and accounting and bookkeeping functions into one application. The prerequisite was to develop an integrated application for retail industry, which can automate checkout transactions at any individual retail outlet or supermarket chain.

Key specifications were:

• Developing and integrating accounting modules and 64 accounting reports
• Live screen monitoring of 6 different Tills from the Back Office
• UI with online cash position and ongoing real time transactions of the Tills

Solution

SOI provided a highly effective solution to manage the retail checkouts while meeting the following requirements:

• Full fledge accounting module with Forex gain/loss calculation and report generation to support multi currency
• Compliant with Wi-Fi enabled data collectors like PDA for physical stock management
• Mailbox for every user with popup functionality for authorization request
• Stock valuation on basis of FIFO, Last Cost, and Last Price & Average Cost
• Barcode and Shelf label printing supporting multiple printer type
• Orders or quotes can be directly sent to supplier or customer on email or can be printed
